In a bid to enhance Tanzania’s economic performance and develop business efficacy, on 27 March 2021, the Director General of TanTrade announced to the business community that they have launched a complaint desk for all business sectors in Tanzania. The said desk shall receive complaints from small and medium enterprises as well as large companies within and outside Tanzania.
As per the Notice, complaints can be lodged by visiting TanTrade offices located at Dodoma (VETA road – Kilimo V) or Dar es Salaam (Mwl. J. K. Nyerere Trade Fair Ground, Plot No. 436, Block A, Kilwa Road and Zanzibar (Malindi Street opposite the Institute of Marine Sciences University). Further, complaints can also be submitted via a special email address: feedback@tantrade.go.
It is to be seen how effectively TanTrade will be able to resolve the complaints, many of which will be against other authorities established under their own laws. Overall, this is a welcome fast move by President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration and will hopefully go a long way to attend to various issues that the business community has been facing over the years.
TanTrade was established by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority Act No. 4 of 2009 and is mandated to provide for formulation, development, promotion, supervision of internal and external trade and implementation of Government’s trade development policies and strategies.
